A NEW YEAR, NEW THINGS

FELLOW HUMANS!
The END is NIGH
Tomorrow night at O'Briens, we're ringing in the new year with Earthquake Party, New Highway Hymnal, and a DJ set by Liz Pelly.
Expect surprises.  Expect dancing.  Expect cosmic afterbirth.
Show starts at 9pm.  Here is a fancy Facebook thing.

And on ANOTHER note, we are on Facebook for the third (until we get kicked off again) time.

MAD MAX USA in Allston this Saturday

This crazy ol' country just keeps getting more nutty! Poor Alabamans with no access to fresh water? Tourist "chokeslammed" by cops for dancing in the Jefferson Memorial? How about this doozy: authorities will soon be given the right to break into your home and detain you indefinitely without charge or trial!

Anyways, Constitution, Schmonstitution. That ol' rag - let's just toss the whole deal and settle into MAD MAX USA on Highgate St this Saturday night. We'll sharpen our knives, we'll tan our leathers, we'll go hogwild dancing to the tunes of  The Connection , us (duh), and one more TBA!

For as long as our amps get power, let's stick it to this shit show, k?

Allston Pudding, Thrash n' Bang Indicate Rise in Fagettes' Yeast

Allston Pudding did us a great huge big ol' act of kindness by including us in their Late Fall 2011 Mix Tape. This collection highlights some serious talent coming out of Allston and surrounding hoods. "Like" the puddin' peeps on Thee Tome of Faces and get the download! Free!

Features: Viva Viva, Carousel, Johnny Appleseed, Bodega Girls, Old Abram Brown, Fat History Month, Magic Man, Secret Jones, Young Adults, Dean Swift, The Fagettes, Faces on Film, Streight Angular, Renzo, Oldjack, Pajama People, PONCHOS, Movers & Shakers

In other news, local punk/metal purveyors Thrash n' Bang published a review of Volume 1 and 2. A review so kind, in fact, I have doubts about its legitimacy. Kidding. We love you dudes. We just need to learn how to love ourselves.

Two shows this weekend

I've been gearing up to play a show in Worchester since my early days as a teenage punk rat. I'd ride out of Connecticut with anyone old enough to have a license and head east to the Palladium. I'd swoon over the most important bands of my 14-year-old world: The Dedication, There Were Wires, Motorhead, whatever. I'd flirt with guys waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too old for me. I'd mosh and get my head stepped on. It was exciting, uncomfortable, sweaty, stimulating, lusty, naive, and the best thing ever.

So you can imagine how pumped I am to finally play this "metropolis" of my younger years. It's at an awesome venue, it's with really cool bands, and it's gonna be rowdy.

RSVP

But wait, there's more! In another first for us, we're playing Precinct this Saturday. Union Square is really killing it these days, so make it down.

He almost convinced me, too

Thanks for the show preview-review, Kyle Risley!
My hero.

From the Tastemakers blog:

"The Fagettes Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 tapes have solidified the group as a key driver in the garage rock revitilization, using guy/girl harmonies, infectious energy, and gritty lo-fi production to win over the most discerning rock listener. Crackles and hisses line their heart-on-sleeve lyrics about love and love lost as steady percussion and roaring guitars burst out of the track. Equally indebted to garage and surf, The Fagettes balance delicious melody with a keen understanding of feedback to deliver pop gems that refuse to tire."
